Article summary
Viber number screening processes an existing phone list and returns task fields; Viber Business Messages is a business communications product. Their inputs, permissions and outcomes differ, and a screening result is not consent or a delivery guarantee.
These are different tools for different jobs. Viber number screening processes an existing phone list and returns fields from the selected task. Viber Business Messages is a business communications product for messaging customers on Viber. A checked number is not automatically a person you may message, and a messaging product is not a bulk checker for any list you upload.
Side by side: the question each one answers
| Dimension | Number screening | Viber Business Messages |
|---|---|---|
| Main object | An existing list of phone numbers you are authorized to process. | Business-to-customer messaging on Viber. |
| Primary question | Is a number registered on Viber? Does the selected task return activity or gender-and-age fields? | How can an eligible business communicate with customers using Viber’s messaging product? |
| Input / setup | A TXT phone-number file, followed by a task selection. | A business messaging account and the product’s onboarding, access and recipient requirements. |
| Output | An Excel task result aligned to the input records; fields depend on the task. | Messages, conversations and messaging-product features, subject to Viber’s systems. |
| What it does not establish | Consent, Business-profile approval or message delivery. | That every number in a separate list is registered, active or appropriate to contact. |
Rakuten Viber describes Business Messages as a business messaging solution for personalized conversations with customers, with different message formats and product capabilities. Those features belong to the messaging channel; they do not mean a user can submit any TXT list and receive number-screening fields. See the official Viber Business Messages page and Viber’s overview of Business Messages and their formats.
Choose based on the work in front of you
If you already hold a properly sourced phone list and need to check Viber registration or organize records using supported activity fields, review AppShai’s Viber number-checking service. Registration, activity and gender-and-age checks are separate tasks. The input is TXT, one phone number per line; task results are exported in Excel, with fields depending on the task.
If the question is how an eligible organization should communicate with customers on Viber, evaluate Business Messages access, account requirements, message types, recipient permissions and the relevant market rules. Viber also says its self-service Business accounts are country-specific and that its account types have different ways of initiating conversations. Check the current product terms rather than inferring access from a number-screening result.
The two can be relevant to separate stages of a data decision, but they do not form an automatic “screen, then broadcast” chain. Screening does not grant consent, qualify a Business profile or predict delivery. Viber’s own message products and AppShai’s processing of existing number lists have different inputs, permissions and outputs.
Four assumptions to avoid
- “Registered means contactable”: not necessarily. Registration does not establish a lawful basis, user consent or platform permission.
- “Active means likely to reply”: an activity field does not guarantee current online presence, message readership or a response.
- “Business Messages validates recipients, so it is the same as screening”: no. Any verification built into a messaging product belongs to that messaging flow; it should not be generalized into a bulk check of arbitrary numbers.
- “A registration result proves my Business profile passed review”: no. Profile approval, local search visibility and number registration must be checked separately.
Viber provides users with controls to stop receiving messages from a business or block it. That is another reason to treat number status and messaging permission as separate concerns. Review Viber’s official guide to finding and interacting with businesses, and follow the privacy and marketing rules that apply to your audience.
Use the tool that matches the question
Use a number task to organize number records; evaluate Business Messages when the objective is communication through Viber with a properly eligible and permissioned audience. If both questions matter, verify list provenance, permission and task fields, then keep list assessment and message delivery as separate records. For the difference between registration and activity, see Viber registration check vs activity check; for preparing the input and reading the output, see the Viber bulk registration-check guide.
In short: number screening returns task results about records in a list; Business Messages provides a business communications channel on Viber. Neither replaces the other’s access, consent or policy requirements.
